Enjoy your camping vacation south of the Bassin d’Arcachon to discover Le Teich, a perfect destination for those who like to alternate walks, nature-watching and local life. The commune lies on the delta of the Leyre (Eyre), an area renowned for its wetlands and landscapes of marshes, reedbeds and forest. Here, you can organize your outings to must-see sites such as the Réserve Ornithologique du Teich, take advantage of the weekly market in the town center, or stroll around the marina. Le Teich lends itself just as well to a leisurely discovery as to a more active program, with trails and routes to get some fresh air at the pace of the Bassin.
The Ornithological Reserve of Le Teich
Birdwatching through the seasons
The Réserve Ornithologique du Teich is one of the major nature sites on the Bay of Arcachon. Designed to welcome wild birds and facilitate their observation, it lies on a major migration route and plays an important role for both migratory and sedentary species.
The site offers a 6 km trail, usually completed in 3 to 4 hours, enabling visitors to discover different natural environments. The reserve is open every day from 10 am. It’s an ideal way to take your time, observe and understand the richness of the delta, with its marshes, meadows and lagoons.

The Leyre delta, between forest and wetlands
Walking in a living landscape
Le Teich is closely linked to the river Leyre, which flows into the Bassin d’Arcachon, creating a typical wetland environment. The delta can be explored on a number of footpaths: for example, there’s a 9 km circuit along the Leyre, crossing wet plains bordered by marshes. This setting is particularly appreciated for its diversity of landscapes and its peaceful atmosphere, ideal for a day out on foot. Le Teich is also surrounded by the Gascony forest, which reinforces the pleasant contrast between water, woods and open spaces.

Market, port and local heritage
Village atmosphere and waterside strolls
To complement the nature outings, Le Teich offers more “local life” moments. The weekly market takes place every Saturday morning on the Place du Souvenir, from 7:30 am to 1:30 pm. It’s a great opportunity to discover the local atmosphere and stock up on produce.
As far as cruising is concerned, Le Teich marina is located on the River Eyre, close to the Ornithological Reserve. It is presented as a beaching port with a capacity for 190 boats. Last but not least, if you like to spot heritage features, the Château de Ruat is one of the places mentioned in the commune: a local landmark you’ll want to know about when discovering Le Teich.
