Surrounded by the Dune du Pilat, the Bassin d’Arcachon and the Lac de Cazaux, La Teste-de-Buch is a major seaside resort in the Gironde between Arcachon and Gujan-Mestras, just 10 km from our 4-star Le Ker Helen campsite. Discover the oyster port of La Teste, its large market, the ocean beaches of the Bassin, not forgetting Pyla-sur-Mer and Lac de Cazaux…

Lake Cazaux
One of the most popular places to relax and swim in Gironde, Lac de Cazaux has earned itself a fine reputation.
Located 20 minutes’ drive from the campsite, Lac de Cazaux is France’s second largest freshwater lake, covering some 5800 hectares. It’s home to beautiful sandy beaches and wild coves protected from the wind by the forest. Here, too, families will be delighted! Children can walk far enough away from the beach to safely enjoy the lake’s warm, calm waters. The campsite’s favourite beach? The idyllic Laouga beach!
For sports enthusiasts, Lac de Cazaux also offers a wide range of water sports: stand-up paddle, catamaran, windsurfing, water-skiing, kayaking, diving, fishing or pedal-boating to take it easy on the lake… Not the sea legs? Don’t worry, La Teste-de-Buch offers a wide range of land-based activities: hiking, cycling, tennis, beach volleyball, horse riding, health and orienteering trails, quad biking…
Atlantic beaches
La Teste-de-Buch is also home to ocean beaches. There’s the Corniche beach at the foot of the Pilat dune, the Petit Nice, the Lagune and La Salie. All four are supervised in July and August. Enough to reassure families! And for board sports enthusiasts, the beaches of La Teste-de-Buch offer great opportunities to take on nature in surf, bodyboard or sand yacht.
Camping favourites!
One of the highlights of your camping holiday near La Teste de Buch is, of course, the Dune du Pilat, the highest dune in Europe. You’ll also want to take a stroll around the market in the center of La Teste-de-Buch, one of the largest markets in Gironde, or the oyster port of La Teste, an authentic and picturesque place to live. Of course, the village of Cazaux and the charming seaside resort of Pyla-sur-Mer are also not to be missed. Take your time!
In terms of leisure activities, you’ll love taking a boat trip around the Arcachon Basin, the Banc d’Arguin, bird island and the cabanes tchanquées. If you’re feeling like an explorer? Take a sea kayak up the Canal des Landes, which links Lac de Cazaux and Lac de Parentis to the Arcachon basin. Boaters will appreciate the Halte Nautique de Cazaux, with its small marina and captain’s office. Last but not least, if you’re looking for a new thrill, let yourself be tempted by a parachute jump over the Bassin d’Arcachon. See you on the tarmac at Villemarie airfield.
