La Plage Pereire
With its lovely view over the Cap Ferret peninsula and its radiant seaside atmosphere, many consider itArcachon‘s most beautiful beach. At least, it’s the longest in the resort, with the song of the birds on the pine forest side, and the melody of the waves on the ocean side. There’s a long ribbon of white sand, children’s playgrounds and beach clubs, vast lawns for family picnics, a seafront cycle path and a pleasant pedestrian promenade stretching for over 3 km.
Abatilles-Arbousiers beach
At the entrance to the Bay of Arcachon, between Plage Pereire and the Moulleau jetty, Plage des Abatilles is a family beach, less flashy than its Arcachon neighbors, but just as welcoming. As well as swimming, it’s ideal for windsurfing. And to top it all off, there’s a lovely seafront promenade and relaxation areas in the shade of the pine trees, so everyone can combine idleness with active relaxation. What more could you ask for?
Moulleau beach
A family beach par excellence, the Moulleau beach is located 2 km fromArcachon town center, at the entrance to the Bassin. With the Pilat Dune as a backdrop, it extends as far as the commune of Pyla-sur-Mer. The beach is supervised in summer, so children can splash around in complete safety. As a bonus, there’s a lovely view of the Banc d’Arguin and Cap Ferret. Take the opportunity to visit the Moulleau district,Arcachon ‘s chic neighborhood with its trendy bars and restaurants, shops and luxury boutiques.
Downtown beach
Popular with families,Arcachon ‘s central beach stretches along the boulevard de la plage, between theEyrac and Thiers jetties. People come here for the supervised swimming in summer, the many summer events that punctuate the days on the beach and the seafront promenade that leads to the Palais des Congrès, theArcachon casino, the Château Deganne and the Aquarium museum. It’s also the starting point for boat trips on the Arcachon basin.
Eyrac beach
As you stroll betweenArcachon‘s marina, the town center and the town of Automne, you can put down your towel, sunbathe and swim onEyrac beach. With a length of 700 meters, it’s one of the most pleasant beaches on the Bassin. Perfect for enjoying the calm of the inner basin, with views of the cabanes tchanquées. Don’t miss: the pretty seafront villas, theEyrac jetty (Arcachon‘s oldest jetty), Place Peyneau and the wooden horse riding arena.
Aiguillon beach
Just a stone’s throw from the fishing port, in the direction of La Teste-de-Buch, Plage de l’Aiguillon isArcachon‘s easternmost beach. Rather quiet, discreet and little frequented, except by local residents, it stretches as far as the Pointe de l’Aiguillon. Nestling just a stone’s throw from the district of the same name, this little stretch of sand is not very suitable for swimming, especially at low tide. However, you’ll appreciate the picturesque character of the area and the huts on the small port of l’Aiguillon.
